Hello friends!
Today, I suggest stepping away from the classics or the expected for your holiday celebrations… I’m bringing you an alcohol-free drink, super refreshing and flavorful, to enjoy the festivities at their best!
Here is my mango and passion fruit mocktail.
The Tropics in the middle of winter
This recipe should win you over, I’m sure of it. A flavorful appetizer recipe that takes you on a journey to the Tropics (which we all crave in the middle of December, right?) and still brings a bit of sparkle! Yes, that’s how I would describe my mango and passion fruit mocktail!
The origin of the mocktail
Long considered a drink for pregnant women only, the alcohol-free cocktail (or mocktail or spirit-free) has gained its well-deserved place over the past decade. You can now find it on the menu of many bars and restaurants.
Just like its cousin the “cocktail”, the mocktail was born in England. Let’s take a look at its origin, starting with its name, which is simply a blend of the verb “mock” and the word “cocktail.” (source Slow Drinking)
Healthy indulgence
Mocktails are trendy today, riding the wave of healthy eating. They surprise the taste buds thanks to the endless creativity of their creators. No need for alcohol in a glass to enjoy a good aperitif! Bonus: kids and parents alike can share the same drink!
Bubbles to sparkle with joy
In my mango and passion fruit mocktail recipe, sparkling water brings the fizzy touch, similar to that found in some traditional cocktails. If you prefer, you can use tonic water or ginger beer instead. The flavor pairing will work just as well. Fresh mint or basil will also add a nice touch of freshness…
Necessary tools:
A blender or immersion blender for the mango,
A small saucepan,
A citrus juicer,
And pretty mocktail glasses!
