Here are my nectarine and mozzarella appetizer skewers.
Nectarine and Mozzarella Appetizer Skewers — the perfect appetizer idea!
Aperitifs are truly the perfect occasion to gather with friends or family and share convivial moments over delicious bite-sized snacks. Among many options, appetizer skewers stand out for their ease of preparation, attractive presentation, and endless flavor combinations. Today, I offer you a tasty and refreshing recipe: nectarine, mozzarella, cured ham, and basil skewers. A perfect blend of sweetness, creaminess, saltiness, and freshness.
A balance of flavors
These nectarine, mozzarella, cured ham, and basil skewers are ideal with a glass of dry white wine or a well-chilled rosé. The juicy sweetness of the nectarine pairs perfectly with the creamy mozzarella, while the cured ham adds a salty and slightly smoky note that balances the whole. Basil brings a touch of freshness and aroma that elevates this harmonious combination.
This preparation is very easy and quick to make. Try it once and you’ll be hooked! I guarantee it!
Possible variations for this recipe
- Peach variant: If you don’t have nectarines, you can replace them with peaches. Their sweet and juicy flavor works just as well with the other ingredients.
- Cherry tomato addition: For an extra pop of color and flavor, add halved cherry tomatoes to your skewers. You can even mix different colored cherry tomatoes (red, yellow, or orange).
- Honey mustard vinaigrette: Prepare a vinaigrette with honey, mustard, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar to lightly drizzle over your skewers before serving.
- Add balsamic vinegar or pomegranate molasses: For a little extra zing, don’t hesitate to add one of these ingredients — it’s delicious!
- Serve as a salad: If you prefer a different presentation, you can serve all the ingredients mixed as a salad instead of on skewers. Combine nectarine, mozzarella, cured ham, and basil pieces in a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil and pepper, then serve.
